Toggle clamps made by Erwin Halder KG
Simple, versatile and powerful
Durable and robust components with exceptional ease of use
Anyone in need of a quick, simple and secure way to fasten, position and clamp components made of wood, plastic or metal will find that the toggle clamps made by Erwin Halder KG are the right tool for the job. “These quick-action toggle clamps are ideal for a large variety of applications across a wide range of industries: for clamping during drilling, welding, bending, grinding, testing and assembling metal parts or as part of wood gluing, drilling, cutting and milling fixtures used during wood and plastic processing operations. Toggle clamps offer an outstanding solution to the problem of keeping moulds and containers closed”, explains Bernd Janner, Sales Director at Erwin Halder KG.
A cornucopia of benefits thanks to the toggle lever principle
Erwin Halder KG can supply vertical and horizontal toggle clamps, push-pull type toggle clamps with angle base or a compact design and hook-type toggle clamps. All versions have one feature in common: They operate based on the toggle lever principle.
Now, what is that? Similar to your legs, every clamp possesses three joints. Dead centre and, thus, maximum force is reached when all three joints are lined up. Latching the clamp requires that dead centre be exceeded by a specific measure (over dead centre). Bernd Janner: “We took our cues from nature when we developed this clamp. The principle behind the clamp can be compared to the attempt of moving a heavy piece of furniture with the force of your legs. When positioned between the wall and the piece of furniture, you will only need to apply a comparatively small amount of force to move the piece of furniture by straightening your legs.”
Toggle clamps utilize the same principle. All you need to do to actuate the clamp is to push down on the handle. Thanks to their high transmission ratio, they generate tremendous clamping forces with a small amount of manual force. The self-clamping feature in the clamping position keeps the clamp from opening during the machining process. Better still, the toggle clamps can be opened wide and fast, releasing the workpiece entirely when relieved and allowing the user to remove the workpiece with zero effort. Vertical toggle clamps offer the additional benefit of changing the opening angle by pressing in a stop pin. A unique advantage of Halder vertical toggle clamps: A safety clamping piece with finger guard and integrated stop prevents interventions, keeping the user safe from injury.
Crafted from premium components
Made from components of the highest quality, the toggle clamps engineered by Erwin Halder KG are designed for long durations of use without maintenance. The actual clamp portion is made of galvanised and passivated steel, which makes the clamp exceedingly robust. The rivets used for the joints are composed of non-rusting steel and housed in case-hardened bearing bushes. To ensure consistent functionality for a long time, all bearing points are greased.
The quick-adjust clamping screws are made of hardened galvanised steel and include a loss prevention device. The removable rubber cap of the clamping screw makes it possible to clamp even the most sensitive workpieces such as wooden boards. An oil-resistant, ergonomically shaped two-component handle made of plastic and boasting a soft and grippy surface as well as a spacious palm rest guarantees an unprecedented level of user comfort.
“Effortless handling, a favourable force-motion ratio, a large opening width for effortless workpiece removal, exceptional ease of use, and a sturdy and long-lasting design - our toggle clamps offer a myriad of advantages. Their comprehensive set of features makes them the go-to tool for a large variety of applications”, says Bernd Janner, summing up the benefits of the clamps.
