Grippers: Effortless front installation option
Erwin Halder KG introduces new grippers
Effortless front installation option
Clamp hard materials and workpieces with perfect reliability
Safe and secure workpiece clamping is paramount to a precise machining process. The grippers supplied by Erwin Halder KG have proven their worth as exceptional tools for clamping hard materials with uneven surfaces such as cast and forged parts. “When used in these types of applications, they shine with their unsurpassed retention forces and also allow for the transmission of tremendous amounts of torque”, explains Bernd Janner, Sales Manager at Erwin Halder KG.
Erwin Halder KG offers various designs of these sturdy seating elements: The round and square grippers are made up of a tool steel body that houses a soldered-in hard metal insert with grooves. If necessary, particularly high retention forces can be reached by simply arranging the square grippers in a row to form a supporting bar. The square model is available with dimensions of 12x12 mm. Users opting for the ground gripper design can choose between the diameters 10, 12, 16, 20 and 25 mm. All designs are available in two heights: 10 and 12 mm.
The round hard metal inserts with locating hole have been furnished with a heat-treated steel body. They are available as grooved models with diameters of 10, 14, 16, 20 and 25 mm and as models with a tip with diameters of 10, 14 and 16 mm.
Bernd Janner: “All our grippers and hard metal inserts are suited for installation into clamping arms, gripper systems, clamping fixtures, clamping jaws and self-aligning pads. They are usually attached from the rear, for instance, using a cap screw through the locating hole. This fixing method may, however, prove problematic in some applications. This is why we have added a model to our portfolio that is designed for installation from the front.”
This new option makes installation a breeze: The round hard metal inserts with their body made of phosphated heat-treated steel are screwed into the fixture or clamping device from the front through a locating hole that is found in the middle of the grooved clamping plate. The new inserts available from stock come in diameters of 20 and 25 mm. Custom designs are - as for all other models - available on request.
