Fluorescent SUPERCRAFT: A shining example of high impact force
The SUPERCRAFT soft-face mallet engineered by Erwin Halder KG always steps up to the plate when the going gets tough and an application would normally call for a steel hammer - for instance, during repairs or installation work. Its tremendous impact force, minimised rebound, long-lasting inserts and negligible noise generation make this mallet the tool of choice when every strike must hit its target perfectly. Specially designed for servicing aircraft - but equally well-suited for a host of other applications - a new fluorescent model is the latest addition to the soft-face mallet selection offered by Erwin Halder KG.
When maintenance on an air plane is complete, it is imperative that every tool be removed from the aircraft. This is because any hammer left behind in the wrong place may turn into a major safety risk. An electronic chip embedded in the tool indicates on the screen, for instance, whether everything that was used inside the air plane has exited the aircraft again. Erwin Halder KG has now devised a solution that is simple and brilliant at the same time: the yellow fluorescent powder coating of the new SUPERCRAFT mallet offers a quick and effective way to locate a missing tool - even in the darkest nooks and crannies. All it takes for the mallet to radiate back is to be hit by the light of a matching UV light that is shined into the aircraft.
“Aside from this one-of-a-kind feature, this new model boasts the same ground-breaking properties that have made the SUPERCRAFT mallets so successful”, declares Volker Gernth, Sales Director Hand Tools at Erwin Halder KG. “The tubular head is filled with steel shot. The resulting effect is that the energy of the steel shot is transferred with a slight delay when the mallet's contact surface hits the workpiece. The reduced rebound allows the impact energy to be absorbed with perfect efficiency. The result is impact of exceptional magnitude. Other advantages SUPERCRAFT mallets possess over ordinary steel mallets are the reduced strain they put on the user’s joints and the low noise level they generate.”
Incredibly durable during use
Just as in all of their other SUPERCRAFT siblings, the replaceable and wear-resistant inserts of the fluorescent model are made from special nylon. They possess exceptional impact-resistance, rigidity and good dampening characteristics. They, furthermore, protect the workpiece and reduce impact noise when used for work on metal workpieces. Volker Gernth: “Another major benefit of this product is the tough and durable material: It never splinters even after strikes on sharp-edged parts. In a comparison test, where it was pitted against a competitor product, the SUPERCRAFT insert showed no major damage that would have affected its continued use even after performing 100 forceful edge blows. Better still, the nylon will not break even in cold conditions and resist temperatures of up to 120°C.“
The break-proof steel tube handle is completely robot-welded. This guarantees a consistently high level of safety and resilience. The ergonomically shaped rubber handle of the SUPERCRAFT contours perfectly to the user's hand. These attributes make the tool equally ideal for aircraft maintenance and assembly and repair work in the automotive and truck sector, for positioning and joining workpieces, for installing sharp-edged workpieces and for straightening work, housing assembly, plant construction, maintenance, and sheet-metal working.
The right non-rebound mallet for every application
The BLACKCRAFT is a supreme choice for work on components with sensitive surfaces, e.g. dent removal and body making. The steel tube handle and the impact head are fully encased in a robust polyurethane coating. This preserves the workpiece, provides protection against corrosion and staves off any scratches as well as sparking in case of failures. Break-proof and fitted with a flexible fibreglass core encased in an ergonomically shaped layer of polypropylene and elastomer, the SUPERCRAFT mallet with its non-slip and break-proof 3-component handle is the epitome of durability and unparalleled impact quality.
The ultra-secure handle-head connection (aluminium wedge and safety pin) makes the SUPERCRAFT sledge hammer an exceptional choice for hall, steel and exhibition stand construction, for loosening concrete framing, for scaffolding and tent construction and straightening work and maintenance.
Well-rounded selection of hammers and mallets
The SECURAL is another example of a mallet that owes its non-rebound characteristics to its steel shot filling. Its rectangular, exchangeable inserts made of polyurethane make it the specialist for work involving corners and edges, e.g. for parquet and laminate flooring, window and door construction, drywall construction, furniture assembly, joiner’s work, and sheet-metal working.
“Anyone who prefers a slightly lighter touch or is struggling with spatial constraints will find that our punches and drop-mallets with replaceable nylon inserts offer them the right tool for the job. These accessories allow the user to dose the impact force with exceptional accuracy, affording them a particularly gentle execution of their straightening work and maintenance operations”, adds Volker Gernth.
Erwin Halder KG will be showcasing their smash-hit craftsmen tools at the International Hardware Fair in Cologne from March 4th to March 7th, 2018: Hall 10.1, booth D012 E013.
