Erwin Halder KG enlarges range of clamping products for M20 and greater
Machining large components, for instance in heavy machinery construction, often poses a monumental challenge. One of the instrumental keys to success is to clamp the work piece in a secure and reliable manner. In an effort to allow customers to position components securely and without vibrations – even if of considerable size – Erwin Halder KG is expanding their portfolio of XL clamping devices by bedding supports, down-thrust clamps and clamping vices to include sizes that suit M20 and M24
The task of finding clamping tools designed for machining heavy components that are capable of withstanding tremendous loads while offering a flexible and modular design for a variety of jobs and applications along with exceptional ease of use may prove to be a challenge of great proportions. This is why a great deal of cutting machine operators, e.g. in the field of heavy machinery construction, make their own customised clamping tools, which has the distinctive downside of losing time that could be better used for production.

We expanded our range of XL tools by pins, locating pins, clamps, holding plates and supporting plates, stops, bedding supports, clamping vices, down-thrust clamps and adjusting cylinders starting with size M20. All clamping tools engineered by Halder are exceedingly easy to use, can be changed quickly and guarantee reliable clamping of the workpiece. All of these qualities are pivotal to every user of clamping tools as short set-up times play a major role in enhancing the efficiency of production processes.
The right tool for every clamping situation
Case-hardened and blackened steel pins as well as tempered locating pins suitable for use as supports and stops and washers are now available in thread sizes M20 and M24. Halder, furthermore, offers a variety of clamp models: fork-shaped clamps for screws up to M36, clamps with goose neck up to M30 and closed clamps with a nose for use with rotating workpieces up to M30.
Sporting a compact and low-profile design and now also available in size M20, the bedding support is of key importance when it comes to supporting over-determined clamping points on components without warping", explains Bernd Janner. “This makes it possible to realise additional clamping points, adding enough stability to the construction to stand up to even the most vigorous machining processes. Vibrations are reduced significantly, clearing the path for a manufacturing process of superior precision”. Another advantage of the bedding support is its capacity to support ribs, beads, and shackles, thereby stiffening clamped components reliably.
Handling the bedding support could not be easier: release the clamping lever to allow the support pin to contour to the workpiece with slight spring tension before releasing the clamping lever to lock the support pin in place without displacement. Releasing the elements after removing the workpiece is just as quick and easy. What is more, the adjustable clamping lever also allows for secure supporting outside of the workpiece.
A must-have piece of clamping technology
Functional clamping vices often come in particularly handy during the machining of large and complex workpieces. Erwin Halder KG offers clamping vices that are sturdy enough to make this task a snap. Equipped with a mechanical spindle drive, these vices can generate a clamping force of up to 80 kN. A force of this magnitude makes it possible to hold even large workpieces securely in position. They are fixed in place by four cap screws with a thread size of M24.
Our compact down-thrust clamp is a universal mechanical clamping element that is ideal for tasks that require quick and easy changing and clamping. Thanks to the clamping head with a swivel range of 360° the workpieces can be clamped for machining by hand in no time. The down-thrust clamp is produced from hardened, blackened and ground case-hardened steel. It can be affixed on a machine table or a base plate with perfect ease using four M24 cap screws. Users can achieve a maximum clamping force of 30 kN with this new down-thrust clamp. Repeated pin-point clamping is guaranteed by the optional positioning ring.
Also available are supporting plates that can be used to position components crosswise to or between T-slots. The product selection is capped by stops, holding plates and adjusting cylinders with sizes M20 and M24.
