Various interchangeable jaws for various applications
For precise production, the clamping of workpieces is crucial. Because if the component to be processed is not secure, clamping errors can have a devastating effect on production. Erwin Halder KG from Achstetten-Bronnen has decades of experience in the clamping of various workpieces. From flexible fixture systems to numerous clamping devices for almost every application, the company from Swabia delivers the right solution and is continually expanding its range. The sub-part clamp and matching sub-part stop are amongst the most recent developments of the manufacturer of standard parts. Users can use it to quickly and reliably clamp even large workpieces whilst making the most of the space available to them.
Entire space can be used
"Our sub-part clamp and stop are a finely tuned team using which workpieces can be clamped quickly and easily," says Bernd Janner, Sales Executive at Erwin Halder KG. "The frontal clamping of workpieces has many benefits: The entire space of the machine table can be used."
The workpiece to be secured is placed on the polished precision supporting plate at both components. Up to 30 kN is clamped with a hollow hexagon screw. By tightening the screw the clamping jaws press the workpiece at the sub-part clamp against the jaws at the stop. The angled position of the jaws at the sub-part clamp creates a hold-down effect which ensures that the workpiece is held securely. Due to the special construction type, the user only meets minimal interfering contours during processing - even for large workpieces," enthuses Bernd Janner. An additional benefit: Thanks to the solid finish of ductile cast iron, the sub-part clamp and stop also serve to dampen vibrations.
Can be adjusted easily to different workpieces
To further improve the clamping of workpieces and to adapt them to the individual shapes of the components, machine and fixture parts from the comprehensive Halder range, such as clamping inserts can be used via a location thread in the precision supporting plate. In addition, side locating holes enable the fastening of longitudinal stops.
For the clamping jaws, Erwin Halder KG also offers two different types for the sub-part clamp and stop: The standard scope of supply comprises hardened interchangeable jaws. They suffice for most applications. To avoid impressions on the workpiece - as well as a grooved side for an improved hold - they also have a smooth side. The steel jaws can also be replaced by interchangeable jaws made of a soft metal. Bernd Janner: "In particular for very sensitive materials, this aluminium version is exactly the right choice. It reliably prevents damage to workpieces. In addition, the soft metal simplifies machining the interchangeable jaws if a specific contour or similar is required for a workpiece."
The sub-part clamp and stop are screwed directly to the machine table. A form-fitting mounting is possible using fixed slot blocks in T-nuts in accordance with DIN 650. In this way the clamping device on the machine table can be aligned optimally. For this purpose, Erwin Halder KG offers blocks made of case-hardened, blackened and ground steel for block dimensions in graduations from 10 to 36 mm.
