Down-thrust clamp of Erwin Halder KG
Down-thrust clamp of Erwin Halder KG
Always clamped at the right point
Flexible, compact and easy to handle
Fast tool changes are important to cost-efficient production. In order to clamp reliably and fast, Erwin Halder KG, has, amongst other high-quality products, various down-thrust clamps in its range. For repeated pinpoint clamping, the company offers a special version with positioning ring.
All down-thrust clamps of Erwin Halder KG – available in diameters of 25, 40, 44 and 60 mm as well as M24 – are structured in accordance with the same patented principle. The clamping element can be moved axially through 360° with respect to the guide column. By adjusting it, the user can fix workpieces fast and easily. "We offer three different versions for clamping: Depending on the size, our customers can choose between three variants: a clamping pin, an adjustable clamping lever or an eccentric quick clamp," says Bernd Janner, Sales Executive of Erwin Halder KG. The sizes 25 and 40 are available in all three versions, the sizes 44 and 60 are available with a pin or eccentric lever, and the new version in the M24 size will initially be offered with a clamping pin. The clamping forces range from 5 kN for size 25, to 30 kN for the clamp in the M24 version. All versions are produced from hardened, blackened and ground stainless steel.
To fix the down-thrust clamps securely to a fixture or machine tables, users can fall back on two different fixing possibilities: either a nut for T-nuts (DIN 508) or a threaded pin which is inserted directly into the plate or fixture. Thanks to their compact construction, the down-thrust clamps only require a small amount of space.
Pinpoint clamping
Bernd Janner: "With conventional down-thrust clamps, the reproducibility of the clamping point is very difficult to achieve. This is why we have developed a positioning ring for the sizes 40 and M24 which allows pinpoint repeated clamping." For the installation of the positioning ring, the clamping head of the down-thrust clamp is withdrawn and the positioning ring is pushed onto the clamping column. After aligning the down-thrust clamp on the workpiece, the positioning ring is then securely clamped on the guide pin of the clamp. The ring can be adjusted through 360° on the down-thrust clamp. This restricts the rotational movement to 110°. This allows workpieces to always be securely clamped to the same point.
Flexible clamping height
There are different possibilities so as to be able to react to different component sizes. To adjust the clamping height, Erwin Halder KG offers adjusting cylinders for the sizes 25, 40 and 60 which are easy to install. They are available in various lengths adapted to the standard clamping height. There are also two thread types for the sizes 40 and 60. The clamping height can also be quickly and easily reduced via the location thread at the clamping head by using different clamping inserts, such as self-aligning pads.
